Preparing for interviews
with AI

We know interviews and assessments can feel a little daunting - that’s completely normal. Most people want to prepare properly and feel confident going in, and with AI tools becoming more common, it’s no surprise they’re starting to play a part in interview preparation too.

Preparing well takes time and thought. Used sensibly, AI can be a helpful way to practise answers, organise your thoughts and think things through. What’s important to us is that AI supports you, not replaces your voice, experience or personality.

We’re really interested in getting to know the real you - how you think, what you’ve learned from your experiences, and how you connect with others. Those are things no tool can replicate. You’re welcome to use AI as part of your preparation, as long as it’s done thoughtfully and appropriately. The tips below will help you get the balance right.

Our view on AI

We see AI as a helpful part of interview preparation - a tool that can support clearer thinking and build confidence. It shouldn’t replace your judgment, insight or personality. What matters most to us is understanding who you are, how you think and how you communicate. If you’re ever unsure about how or when to use AI during the recruitment process, please contact the recruitment team on jobs@bishopfleming.co.uk.

When not to use AI

Bishop Fleming Careers - Bad AI Use - Your Own Voice.png

Use your own words

Interview answers should always reflect your real experiences and be framed in your own voice.

Bishop Fleming Careers - Bad AI Use - Live in Interview Icon.png

No live use during interviews or assessments

AI shouldn’t be used to generate answers in real time.

Bishop Fleming Careers - Bad AI Use - Not Authentic Icon.png

Keep it authentic

Don’t invent examples or exaggerate experiences; honesty really matters.

Bishop Fleming Careers - Bad AI Use - Confidential Icon.png

Protect confidentiality

Don’t enter personal data or confidential firm information into AI tools.

Bishop Fleming Careers - Bad AI Use - No Recording.png

Always ask before recording

Recording or transcribing interviews with AI requires clear consent.

Bishop Fleming Careers - Bad AI Use - Over Reliance.png

Avoid over‑reliance

Using AI too heavily can make answers sound generic and less personal, and we’re keen to hear from you.
